ARTICHOKE CONSULTING

Part Five – The Heart: Client Best Practices During Project Work #smb

The consulting team and the client team all work together for a successful implementation.

Our best work is done when the two halves of the project team-the client team and the outside consulting team-work towards the project goals together. Below are some best practices for the client side throughout The Heart.

  1. Open up time to allocate to the project. If the stakeholders are already working 40+ hour weeks, let’s plan out when the best time to start project work is.
  2. The project is for the team to adopt a new process. If we’re feeling pushback on adoption, let’s address it.
  3. Take a natural pace. Sometimes we can’t force adoption, but we can break the change into manageable steps.
  4. During prototyping and UAT, new requests will come up. If requests don’t work towards the overall project goal, let’s slot them for a future phase.
  5. The project may not end where we foresaw in the beginning. We work to keep an open channel with the executive sponsors to communicate changes as they come.
  6. Are we moving slower than expected? Is the team struggling to follow the process changes? Let’s discuss.

Up next is the final post of the #smb series—The Bloom: Cement and Celebrate Success and Looking Forward.
