ARTICHOKE CONSULTING

Meet Mark Brandwein M.Ed.

Mark has 5+ years in corporate training and enablement transitioning into the corporate world after 5 years teaching elementary school. Mark knows how to work through the delicate change management process.

Mark is a Chicago, IL based consultant with a masters degree in education. Mark has 10 years experience in education, spanning both corporate training and enablement and elementary education.

Outside of work, Mark likes to watch and banter about Minnesota sports, go on walks, play with his two cats, and plan road trips with his family. Mark is also learning Korean and brings the ‘ku’ to StudioJIKU.

What is enablement vs. training?

My experience teaching elementary school carries through here. Students don’t simply get ‘trained’ and pass tests. People digest and use information when the opportunities to learn are engaging and goals are clear.

At the end of the day, my work is to make sure a change is incorporated into day-to-day work. I make clear plans and measure progress throughout the program. If something is not working we’ll change paths and course correct. This is learning, after all.

Why do you like working with the Artichoke team and clients?

The Artichoke team understands Salesforce implementations are as much about people and process changes as they are technical. The team puts equal weight and effort into making sure end users and system administrators understand the changes in their day-to-day work as they do the Salesforce build. This gives me the opportunity to work with the end users to make sure they understand the changes coming their way.

Sometimes a solid end user understanding also means doing less custom development. My work can save system build time.

What is your favorite part of working on implementation projects?

Every project and client team is a little different. I get to work with a wide variety of teams and processes. I’m always looking for the most efficient way to make sure the end user teams are adopting the new Salesforce processes, and every project I get to make tweaks and improvements to my own processes for the same.

What are your favorite business books?

I’m always reading or listening to business books and incorporating the same into my enablement processes. Here are some of my recent favorites:

  1. Cal Newport – Deep Work
  2. Simon Sinek – Start With Why
  3. Chip and Dan Heath – Made to Stick
  4. Cathy Moore – Map It: The Hands on Guide to Strategic Training Design
